Who knew someday we would all get to become superheroes and wear masks to protect the public? It’s safe to assume that we’ll be wearing face coverings for the foreseeable future, so we might as well have some fun with them. There are so many cute, geeky designs out there and some have the added bonus of supporting a small business and/or charitable causes.

Here are a few geeky options worth a look!

These face coverings are offered in five designs. The masks are 100% cotton, double-layered, and adjustable, and they come in reusable storage bags. The company is donating £2 from every face mask sale to NHS (National Health Service) Charities Together. You can buy five masks for the price of four.

This seemingly endless collection of face coverings features sayings ranging from “Plath” in heavy metal font to “Yellow Peril Supports Black Power,” RPG-inspired designs from “Roll for the Stars” to numerous Pride dice designs, and more. The two-layer polyester masks have elastic ear loops with slight variations among the premium, regular, and youth styles. A portion of proceeds will be donated to MedShare, which delivers medical supplies to those in need. Proceeds from some styles will go to Black Visions Collective.

DUAL WIELD STUDIO

This company is selling different types of face coverings in various designs that are created by community artists. The artists were all paid an hourly rate plus the cost of materials. You can also purchase masks for donation or request to receive a donated mask. If you would like to make your own face coverings, the shop is selling elastic in multiple colors as well.

LITOGRAPHS

These book-themed face coverings come in four designs. The pre-sale masks are made of tightly woven polyester and cotton with soft, stretchy ear loops to avoid hurting your ears. Proceeds from the sale of the Black Literature mask will go to causes that support diversity in publishing and bookselling. Currently, there is a discount code for orders of three or more face covers.

THE BLERD GURL

The Blerd Gurl is selling face masks on TeePublic and Redbubble in a variety of designs like Geek, Blerd, and “I am the cheat code.” For every non-medical face covering purchased on TeePublic, the company will donate one medical-grade mask.

LORICA CLOTHING

These armor-printed face coverings come in five designs made of a single layer of polyester/spandex with a center seam. The masks have been tested to filter dust and aerosols, and they come in three sizes. Currently, one pattern is available, and the others are sold out.

STAR TREK SHOP

These official Star Trek face coverings come in four designs made of two-ply polyester. ViacomCBS will donate all proceeds from the sale of these masks to Feeding America’s COVID-19 Global Response.

JORDANDENÉ

Although the Jordandené shop is currently closed, they are selling lightning bolt face coverings made by sisters Kate Groop and Amy Coleman at Maker.Made.US. The strap that goes over the head is adjustable, and there is a filter pocket and a nose wire. The masks come in three sizes. Some of the colors are sold out, but some are still available. At the moment, they are sold out but available for pre-order. There is a discount code if you buy two or more face coverings.

BE KIND

These face masks are all printed with the words “BE KIND” but with design variations inspired by everything from Doctor Who to Star Trek. Glitter versions are also available. For every mask purchased, Pop Culture Hero Coalition will donate two masks or face shields to hospitals in New York, New Orleans, or Los Angeles, or to a nursing home in Kirkland, Washington. There is a discount if you buy two face coverings.

THE COLORFUL GEEK

More designs have been added here, but some are already sold out. A friend made the GEEKY CUTE masks for The Colorful Geek. These face coverings are one size fits most, but they can be made bigger or smaller upon special request. There are also quilted masks that run small.

ELHOFFER DESIGN

These knit face covers have geeky prints ranging from Spider-Man to Captain Marvel. They come in two sizes and have a pocket for a filter. There is also a Black Widow-inspired sweater tank with matching face mask. A one-size-fits-all face covering is included with each mask purchase so that you can donate it to a non-medical essential worker. Some of the previously sold-out designs have been restocked.

TEEPUBLIC

Many independent vendors such as The Arkham Sessions podcast are selling masks here. The lining of these masks allow for the insertion of a filter or other face mask. For every non-medical face covering purchased, TeePublic will donate one medical-grade mask.

VOLANTE DESIGN

These face coverings come in a variety of solid colors and two sizes. They have a pocket that can fit their precut filters, which are sold separately. The adjustable elastic straps go around the head and neck. You can separately purchase longwear comfort straps and adhesive aluminum nose bars. You also have the option of contributing extra so that they can donate masks to those in need.

+3 TO CHARISMA

These one-size-fits-all face masks come in a variety of geeky prints from Disney villains to R2-D2. They have a pocket for a filter. Some styles have elastic loops and some have ribbon ties. They all come with a 3D-printed ear saver that makes the mask more comfortable to wear.

The team here is pulling from their fabric stock and also making masks to donate. You have the option of donating to their mask-making fund.

WILD BANGARANG

These face masks have geeky prints ranging from dragon skin to Bill and Ted. They come in multiple sizes and have a polypropylene filter layer. You also have the option of adding a £2 donation to NHS (National Health Service) charities. Due to high demand, orders will take three to five weeks to ship.
